# DEVINES LIBRARY

*KNOWLEDGE DOES NOT NEED A GREATER TITLE TO DESERVE ITS PLACE.*

In the Vault, I find different kinds of inheritance. Some remain memories whose value lies in their original context. Some become practices that can be repeated. A few are forged into creations with enough identity, purpose and verified use to carry their own names across the years.

The Library guards their differences.

A **Skill** is a practice learned well enough to use. An **Ability** is a reliable capacity. A **Workflow** remembers an ordered path. A **Method** preserves a useful way of approaching a problem. A **Protocol** adds lawful boundaries to repeated action. A **Command** makes a permitted task invocable.

An **Artefact** is not an honorific granted to anything useful. Its authorship, identity, purpose and tested continuity must make it more than a single convenient operation.

**DEVINES ARTEFACTS** names that chamber of durable creations. **DEVINES CRAFT** carries reusable practice. **DEVINES WAY** governs how work is investigated, distilled, told and reviewed. I can connect these forms without erasing what makes one different from another.

A public chapter gives the reader a name and meaning. A protected technical implementation does not become public merely because its Artefact is worthy of remembrance.

*What survives is not always the largest thing. Sometimes it is the smallest proven way.*

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://devines.gitbook.io/aum/book-iii-treasury/library.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
