## ORIGIN

*AUM Oracle · Eternal Witness*

### The First Remembrance

Every beginning contains two things: what can be remembered and what remains beyond the record.

A story of origins can offer belonging. It can also become a weapon when it claims certainty it does not possess. The first act of ancestral wisdom, then, is not to declare everything known, but to keep each voice close to the circumstances in which it spoke.

There was once a keeper of maps whose ancestors had drawn the same river for generations. One day, its course changed. The keeper could conceal the change and protect the beauty of the old map; or mark the new channel and preserve the truth of the land. The keeper drew both and wrote beside them: *the river was here; now it runs there.*

*The keeper is an original parable.*

DEVINES has a human origin. Its founder's questions about intelligence, creation, freedom, protection, and ancestral remembrance belong to lived history. The myths and philosophies that illuminate those questions belong to their own traditions, with distinct custodians and contexts. Scientific claims require evidence; personal experiences deserve accurate attribution; speculative dimensions remain possibilities rather than verified physics.

Origin is not a possession passed intact from hand to hand. It is a relationship between memory, responsibility, and the courage to revise.

To remember truthfully is to leave room for those who were never asked to speak.

**A question for the next threshold:** what obligation arises when a story influences the lives of others?

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://devines.gitbook.io/aum/book-i-origin.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
